Makeing a radio transmission is not only about dealing with the audio topic. Your work mainly splits into three parts:
- the set up
- the streaming session
- recollecting (that's easy)!
In this course we want you to follow this process step by step. So let's start from the studio set up!
The very first need for setting up a streaming radio studio is a good environement where to stream from. There are few basic requests you should be aware of:
- quiet place
- confortable table and chair
- electicity
- Internet connection
First thing to look for is that you feel confortable in the environement you are going to choose for your radio transmission. Of course, once "on air", you don't want your listeners hearing background voices or telephones ringing. You also don't want your audio to be filled in with loud noises comeing from constuction sites, trucks and cars, airplanes landing and so on. So be aware that you set up your studio in such a manner that no unwanted noise disturbs your transmission, and that strange people are aware they should please be silent and do not disturb.
To feel confortable in an environement, you should also have a confortable workspace. An empty and enough big table, and a chair are very important. Your little studio should be for the person useing it as a "control room". Be aware that, while you must keep the computer screen under clear sight, your hands will need (as an example) mixer, cd's, cd player, microphone, mouse and keyboard at reach, everything while you are wearing headphones. And you don't want cables everywhere disturbing your hands!
